SG Pro Fight Community started out in the late of 2003 as the first ever professional wrestling community in Singapore, Art Of Pro Wrestling. Through the years AOPW has its ups and downs. AOPW was finally shut down in late 2007 and in its place, a forum on invisionfree was started and named as SG Pro.
Forward to the year 2009. The person who envisioned that same community back in 2003 now hopes to bring to the locals a wider view of mixed martial arts and professional wrestling altogether. That’s the birth of SG Pro – Fight Community. As the name suggested, SG Pro – Fight Community aims to be a community for the local mixed martial arts and professional wrestling fans, to be an unbiased platform for everyone to have their views known.
With that, we bring you the team behind SG Pro – Fight Community.
Gary – Gary started off his love relationship with professional wrestling after watching The British Bulldog, Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat and The Texas Tornado defeat The Warlord and Power and Glory at Summerslam 1991. Since then Gary has been enchanted with the world of professional wrestling and the athleticism surrounding it. Gary then started having an obsession with the art of mixed martial arts and submission grappling after watching a UFC show and finally joined a local mixed martial arts gym in 2008. Despite training with one of the top gyms in Asia, Gary knows that he will never make it as a professional fighter, thus he did the next best thing available; start a community where he can futher spread the word on two of his greatest loves. Professional wrestling and mixed martial arts.
Gary is the person behind the SG Pro – Fight Community project and you can contact him at admin@sg-pro.com should you have any queries with regards to SG Pro – Fight Community.
Johan Yusof – Johan is currently working full-time in a production company and he is also a part-time performer and has acted, sung and danced on stage for stage productions and also on TV. He is also an avid fan of pro wrestling and mixed martial arts and his credential as a graduate in the field of Journalism brought him over to SG Pro as a contributing writer. Johan has been watching wrestling ever since he was eight and due to the many wrestling videos he had watched growing up, not to mention the wrestling magazines he had read through, he was able to gain as much knowledge as he can to further increase his love for the sport. Johan has also been into mixed martial arts since 2003 as he attended New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s ULTIMATE CRUSH event at the Tokyo Dome and saw five MMA fights that took place, including the debut fight of Lyoto Machida. After almost two years, Johan’s passion for MMA finally saw him sign up for mixed martial arts classes with one of the top MMA gyms in Malaysia in early 2009.
Johan is hoping to spread awareness of mixed martial arts to Malaysians and Singaporeans and feels that SG Pro – Fight Community would be a great way to do so. He can be reached at johan_yusof@sg-pro.com.
